#hamradio on Ubuntu has given me tons of headaches. I simply cannot get my #x6100 to work with JtDX, wsjtx, or js8call. I'm unwilling to dual boot or buy a dedicated Windows machine for this. Really want to avoid maintaining a VM and the hassle of USB passthrough. Also I doubt my laptop could manage realtime loads inside a VM anyway. Today I'm trying something different. Going to see if I can get it working on my pixel tablet running #GrapheneOS

A few reasons. VMs are extra maintenance. USB serial passthrough for CAT control is a pain. Laptop needed for portable ops, I don't always HF from my shack. So that means proxmox on my daily driver laptop.
I only have 1 laptop. So basically I'd be signing up to run a ham specific distro for all my daily driving laptop needs. Live boot could be interesting but it means extra hassle for adif files and reconfiguring my sound stuff in every app every time I want to do radio. It also means no access to my other uses for the laptop while doing radio and constant reboots. I'm a never reboot guy which is why dual boot is a no go.

Got my first #hamradio FT8 contact from my x6100. I should have tried this ages ago. nostr:nevent1qqsr9ld40g307zlfw97pnv7hj90mxnayd0h6qzqgs5e9w7pkc9jhm7spz3mhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338g6rsd3e9upzqqgd7ry53l56k4xjedl2gg8l5zx409vfsxmw568g8248avka8uz6qvzqqqqqqy8e5nx0

Already got my first ft8 contact with the tablet I already owned. Running GrapheneOS instead of Windows.
