damn, i saw #mochi the #catstr sitting in the second floor window looking like he might be tempted to run down the wall and splat himself uncomfortably on the grass
ok, i'm gonna have to visit a hardware store and find some solution for preventing his escape now he is becoming a healthy, mischievous kitty and no longer in a fog of gingevitis and earache pain, i have a hacksaw and i guess i could get a hammer and some framing pieces and build some mochi-proof chickenwire cat-retention apparatus
gonna have to think about it quite a lot because as summer warms up it's gonna get hot up there and i don't want to think about him running away and coming back covered in ticks
i know it's gotta be pretty solid, cos he already busted out of the bathroom window, which is made of shitty aluminium and cheap plastic parts, so i know he's both ingenious and strong
i would like to have insect screens actually but making them catproof will not be easy, especially being that they have to be attached to the outside of the building, so, yeah, chickenwire and framing wood, and some proper metal retaining pieces that are mochi-proof
it's fine for right now, but in 2 months it's gonna be a big problem if i can't have air flow out those windows
#mochi the #catstr is now showing signs of the damage of him bitiing his tonge 3 days ago
very often just after he finishes eating, he is licking licking and then goes to gag and sometimes vomits some of his stomach contents
i feel so super bad for being the main reason why it happened, i clamped on his jaw trying to feed him a tablet and he bit his tongue
a bump in the road, i guess, but i still feel bad about it
day after tomorrow he is due for his evaluation of his progress at the vet, hopefully all teh signs are good and it's only this swelling in his tongue from the injury that is keeping him in a bad state
takes about 5 days for tongues to heal up... i know this because i'm a qualified body piercer, and after about 24 hours from the piercing the tongue swells up like 2x the size for about 5 days
so it feels like a setback because one of the purposes of the treatment was to reduce his gum swelling, which was causing him to poke his tongue out
and now his tongue is big so it's back where it was
it's not quite the same, but itlooks the same
i was totally unprepared for any idea of how to subdue him to enable safe adminsitration of the medicines
i did ask the vet if i could just leave him there, but he sorta brushed that away
i learned the lessons now so i'll probably do ok at completing the treatment, most likely just another 4 days and the tongue will stop being swollen and all the other things will be ok
it's horrible when you hurt the ones you love in a tense situation where you have to push them to take the medicine
so, third day of giving #mochi the #catstr his once a day medicines, a liquid of some sort for the gingevitis and i assume an antibiotic, and he really fought with me this time, yesterday i just put it in his food and that was fine, but i thought i'd would try to do it properly today and he foughl like a demon, and consequently during the first one, giving the pill, he bit down on his tongue because i was trying to hold him but for sure gotta say the pinch the back of the neck and lift up helps a lot but when he starts to get fighty because his front legs are free to move he tries to push you away
poor little guy, never nice seeing blood, mine or his, i only got a few scratches because i prepare for this but i'm just gonna put it in his food for the rest of the course, i mean, half the juice stuff ends up all over me and the surfaces around anyway because he is so unhappy about it, i'm betting it gets into him just fine mixed with food, and the same with the tablet
cleaning the ears and putting in the eye drops is quick and simple and a lot less painful for him
oof i feel terrible though, seeing the blood from his tongue like that
but i gotta do it, damn, the results of these treatments is already really visible, even, in the way he was fighting back, he would never have been able to fight back like that before

hopefully i can just do it with his food from here on and not have a repeat of this mornings administrations
I have to say i'm kinda impressed with #mochi the #catstr after his visit to the good vet
the vet literally said he was surprised he was still eating with the level of inflammation he observed in his ear (ear infection)
my mochi is a tough little dude
he is also very talkative, he keeps on signalling to me even though he's ok, in a half asleep state
i think he wants me to take him up to the bed and snuggle, he's really insistent, he keeps on chirping at me, but, sorta different to usual

ok, vet wants me to bring him back
but i think his prescription is gonna totally cure him because he's carved out of wood this one
i want to see how he goes after tomorrow's treatments, but his behaviour is changing quite quickly, he clearly seems to understand that i'm healing him
i said that he seems like one of the smartest cats i've ever had, and i'm not joking, this kittah is like buddah
i saw a lot of the north-east parts of #madeira today on a trip to the vet for my #catstr #mochi
there is an epic giant rock between Faial and Santana that has to be seen
the other side of Boaventura is a lush forested place that you don't really see it properly from afar, when you are in it, mmm it's almost like rainforest
i'm fine to stick here in unwanted, damp, moldy boaventura, and the people here are mostly hermits, who like the relative isolation, but i was told that there is marinas in Ponta Delgada and Santana so when i get to having a boat, idk, i'm probably gonna go with Ponta Delgada because it's only a 40 minute walk away, but it's nice to know that indeed i could keep a sloop docked so close to me and me and the mochi could go get onboard and go sailing on a nice summer warm day and catch fish and feed my kitty raw, just barely ded cod and tuna
it's not a life for everyone, i'm adventurous, and this is what i want
now, i just need to figure out a way to up my pay grade so i can do less hours for more fiat.
i feel like this new work building recommendation/matchmaking engines might lead somewhere forwards in the future
#mochi the #catstr is a very well behaved kitty but practically impossible to give him medicine
antibiotic syrup half ends up on the floor, he's really strong, actually, and idk how that doctor was able to handle him so easily, poking a thermometer up his butt and stuff and not a squeak but i just try to give him tablets and he shreds my wrist and screams
gonna have to just live with it i guess, maybe after i do it a few times he stops being so resistant, really gotta get it sorted because probably the reason why he's so fighty is exactly because of what he is sick with
yeah, gingevitis, ear infection, some kind of sinus infection
all his blood scan showed healthy except he's not eating enough (because of the pain i guess) and he was amazed with the state of his ear that he was even eating
so, my blood, for my kitty :) i have to do this for a week so he is gonna just have to get used to it... the eye drops are gonna be hell as well, gonna take a bit of improvising to figure out how to actually succeed in getting this stuff on and in him, and probably several more times bleeding from big scratches, ouch

i gave up on openapi 3, it's a piece of shit unstable actually not doing anything better
this swagger tooling is very obviously a lot more stable, and most importantly, it is actually giving you a little picture into the nostr http api i'm building, complete with examples and numerous bits of specification that make implementation simple and the results of it, reliable
i guess openapi 3 is unstable
supposedly always odd versions are this except 1, which is technically not really odd but prime, which also means first :rofl:
anyhow, the kittah has achieved his mission
i wanted to just report on his progress
he is having coughs a lot less often, he is now preferring to sleep full time up in my bed, except in the evening times, he comes to me to hassle me to go and be his toasty heater up on the bed for the cold nighttime
his eyes are getting weepy less often, his tongue is definitely protruding less
and the most shocking thing about this is he hasn't et hardly anything in now nearing 36 hours, his belly isn't as distended as it is normally, and this is probably the reason:
i've repeatedly fed him grain fed angus beef stake diced into small kitty sized chunks for the prior 3 days, as well as most days also a 100g of human grade tuna in brine, with the brine drained
i plop his feeding bowl repeatedly today on the ground to trigger the "ooh food" signal and nope, he dgaf
it's quite bizarre
and not only that, he has repeatedly gone into skitty mode today, including killing my mini pc and optical router power as he was exploring a new part of the space he never was at before
he is getting stronger, and fitter, and faster, and smarter, and not only that, he is sending me messages that The Master has been sending him, which is to get to damn sleep
nope... i needed to finish the API methods for events, filter and fulltext and subscribe

just needed to log my report to my peoples about how things are moving forwards here, and how kitty > all and how swagger 2 > openapi 3
i find this tendency of my #catstr #mochi to tilt his head forwards like this a bit worrying, i am a bit foggy on the memory, i think i saw another cat do this at one time that was very sick
but this is what the little guy looks like 3/4 of the daylight hours, curled up in a kitty-egg shape like this
it's amazing how they retain their condition, seems like mainly they are cleaning when awake, and then maybe second most frequent activity is cuddles and then stretching and then eating
probably indicates there is a lot of value in stretching
something i've found difficult since this kidney/cramping problem appeared... i used to be able to touch my toes basically since i was like 12 and until like... 45 or so, now, i get all kinds of issues with muscles threatening to lock up on me
anyhow, i know this cat has some kind of infection in his throat/sinus because he often has nastry goop leaking from his mouth and i know he has gingevitis and sometimes his eyes leak this dark colored mucus
i've given him two separate treatments of internal and external parasites, two different kinds, drontal and something with moxidectin and imidocloprid, and it seems to me like whatever is plaguing his eyes and ears is not responding to anything he's being given, and he also had an antibiotic jab as well, which didn't substantially improve his condition
i gotta try and organise him some better care than the sao vicente vet, i'm betting he needs a small spot of dental surgery and a better, less frequently used antibiotic to end this neverending cold he seems to have
he has a cough too, maybe 2-3 times a day i hear him coughing, but nothing ever comes up, it's not furballs
oh dear, i gave my skitty #mochi the new drontal internal antiparasitic and some other drug for the external stuff, and i see his eyes are all watery and he's behaving rather differently, like, playful and bold, sitting up on the shelf threatening to tamper with my nicknacks
he is definitely in skitty mode right now
this weather at the moment is crazy, rain and wind and rain and wind and i don't know what way is up at the moment
time to go to bed, but first i must dispose of the skitty's deposits in the clay repository in the bathroom, and sweep the clay bits he has scattered around the floor, and then to welcome him to his favourite sleeping place next to me on the bed upstairs
too much friction and probably i can't even catch a photo of him perched on the shelf with his visible slight wobble that is obviously probably induced by some cholinergic effect of the drugs i gave him to clear his parasites
well
inshalah that this actually kills the ear mites and eye mites he has had that the previous treatment did not affect
and i'm off to clean toilets and chew bubblegum, and go to sleep to the whooshy sound of the wind and the periodic random patter of rain
