Great to hear about mesh networks in RHR. The hybrid mesh technology you are longing for already exits, Matt: #Reticulum Network Stack. Probably a lot to do for world scale deployment, but you are able to mix TCP, serial, LoRa and other radio technologies to communicate already. Mark Qvist should definitely apply for an Open Sats grant. @npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y https://github.com/markqvist/Reticulum

#Reticulum also works with only a mobile phone, but still lacks the Bluetooth Interface. But WiFi already works out of the box. Should be the same with BT one day.

You could simply use #Sideband on your phone. #reticulum is not restricted to LoRa although designed also to work with it. If there would be a Bluetooth interface for reticulum you were able to communicate just with your phone and Sideband. https://github.com/markqvist/Sideband
The bluetooth interface for #reticulum has still to be written. Would be a much more versatile approach.

Don't forget to play with #reticulum after it works fine with meshtastic.

#Reticulum Network Stack
UI looks also similar to a #nomadnet chat on #reticulum

Is the use of internal modules for telemetry in #RNodes for #reticulum already implemented? In my case a GT-U7 GPS module connected to a Heltec LoRa V3. I havn't found something in the docs. #asknostr

I wonder if #reticulum could use #nostr #relays as its propagation nodes? it might need to have some conversion method for going to a npub from a reticulum address and back again for message post and retrieval? π€

Installed RNode on a couple of devices yesterday so I can experiment with #reticulum. I now need to figure out how to use it.. While Meshtastic is great for what it does, Reticulum looks like it offers a lot more functionality (although with additional complexity). https://i.nostr.build/onMwc1JscmcbAWYy.jpg
Why not writing a Nostr Interface for #reticulum? Same LoRa radio hardware, but a much more versatile network.
First #reticulum orange pilled LoRa RNode is running. Next step is giving him a LoRa mate to send data back and forth. Don't be be confused by his little sibling's logo.

Connecting to testnet worked fine. Only added the Interface and peers and nodes pop-up soon. Some quirky pages on some nodes. I like it. Installing RNode failed due to permission issues. I guess I have to install #reticulum globally to circumvent these problems.
What is the / Is there a way to connect #reticulum rnsd on Termux with the sideband app running on the same android phone?
My #meshtastic device zooπ¦ππ¦π π―π«π¦ is waiting impatiently to get fed by RNode #reticulum firmware.

You should also look at #reticulum. It can run on same hardware for LoRa as #meshtastic but is a much broader network approach which can be expanded by WiFi, TCP/IP aso But it is in a much earlier stage of development

#Reticulum is another rabbit hole.
A big advantage of #reticulum seems the possibility to connect different LoRa meshs via internet. As long as the mesh is not tight enough this seems to be a way for larger communities.
I think it is o.k. to start with meshtastic because of the lower barrier of entry. My way: Playing around with #meshtastic hard- and software. Reading the #reticulum manual in parallel.
