Home loss (intentional), job loss (not intentional) Grandmother loss (inevitable) and now our temporary living situation has been made to be coming to an end. Despite all of this, we're working our way through it and in so doing, we're organizing our stuff for our move. Infinite money you say. Okay, let's break it down a bit. What size of page am I working with? 8.5 × 11? What is my line spacing? Am I doing every line or double-spaced? It depends on the subject. Am I recreating something already written or writing it fresh myself? Is there proofreading involved? I would have to account for page rewrites for quality as well which would get less over time as I get better (which I have since I started). I don't want mistakes in a handwritten book. Then we need to consider paper quality, ink choice(s) and binding costs. Binding is something that would need to be outsourced as that's a skill I do not have so that's a bit more time. I use the beads and you can get a very accurate and consistent seal from them. It's easy to mix and combine colors and if you've got multiple spoons you can keep things from getting too out of hand by way of color mixes. A lot of people use the glue gun for the speed and ease of use. With the beads you have to melt each seal seperately, but with the glue gun you can do one after the other quickly because the gun is melting the wax, not a candle or lighter. You'll have to eyeball the glue gun a bit closer to get consistent seals where the beads allow for that consistent size. In a clean spoon it's about 4-5 beads depending on the size of your stamp and after that it's 3-4 because of the existing wax in the spoon. I've also used the wax sticks with the wick in them (essentially a candle) as well and unless you're going for speed and don't mind a messier seal, I wouldn't recommend going that route. Small update in the pen world. After we sold our house I picked up a metal Pilot Falcon as well as a TWSBI Eco. Although not the first gold nib pen I've bought, it's the first I've bought for me! I have returned. I've been absent for a little while, some of the reasons were expected and some weren't. We sold our house and have moved but we're in the middle of a family conflict now. Not ours, someone else's but it's still something we need to deal with occasionally. The pen giveaway went on hiatus as a result of how hectic life has been but I'll get that started properly again soon. All entrants are still being counted as of this time. We moved to an area with terrible signal for both cell and data so we have been struggling with that until today. We finally got Starlink set up so now I'll be able to return to Nostr now that I have consistent internet. That's it for now. I'm very happy to be able to be back here again. Working on my handwriting again. Obviously somebody else beat me to the use of this page, as well as a few others. I actually love sitting down to write with my daughter even when she gets ahold of my journal and does this. I haven't gotten mad once. I just grab a pen and write on the same page. It helps to date it as well.
