i'm also a bit concerned about how i'm going to give him the gabapentin... seems to me like probably the only practical way is if i dissolve it in water and shoot it into the back of his throat same as the antibiotic, maybe just even mix it into the antibiotic juice
i'm not entirely pleased about how this is working out, it's taking a lot more time than it should be
well, it will be over in 12 days time anyway, and then he's just post-op recovery, which should be fine, hopefully it will just be more antinflammatories and antibiotics and finally done
if they were properly caring about this poor little guy they would have been referring me to another vet surgeon to get it done sooner, because it's ready to be fixed already
if you ask me, it's clear the reason why he was so aggro at the vet when i was there two days ago it's because he's in severe pain and doesn't want his hurty bits prodded at
i think probably it's just simply not as serious as "he will die if it's not fixed" so they didn't go defcon 1 on it, but i honestly would have preferred that option
i knew right away from the moment i saw the way his jaw and tongue were that he most likely had a bad case of gingevitis and honestly... i'm not happy, i just hope that the condition will not get any worse than it is right now while he waits
heh, and probably also... the gabapentin... i've given a diabetic cat shots before and i know exactly how to do it, that would be the easy option, for me, same with the antibiotic, just a vial, clean syringe, measure, grab the cat by the scruff of the neck and push the needle in at the back of the neck and squeeze and done... cat only feels a little prick like a tiny fraction of what happens in a cat fight, and within 10 minutes the drug takes effect, no muss, no fuss
i guess i'm a bit unusual in this because i'm very comfortable with actual needles, having used meth many times in my yoot with it, as well as having actually babysat a diabetic cat
what these fucking cat food companies sell just herds these poor cats into the vets to get treated for diseases they should never have been poisoned to get in the first place
and then, on top of it, this fucking doctor elitism shit that i am too stupid to understand how to nurse my cat... i feel like i'm probably going to mention when i take him in for the surgery that i'm a qualified body piercer and former needle user and i would have preferred to give my kitty the drugs by needle if that was the way they would do it because i'm NOT stupid or uninformed and >_<
oh well, live and learn
poor mochi tho, he's only in this situation because he was stealing shitty high carb food left out for other cats of the neighbours and they don't know better and all of their cats are probably gonna end up dying of renal failure due to their high carb diet
