This is how “algos” creep in. It can be open sourced what the formula is and users know what they are looking at. Yes, some sort of combo may be good. Maybe two separate. Sort by amount or numbers. Maybe.

There will be different ranking systems we can choose. "Algos" are not bad. Instead of algos incentivizing hate and anger the algos will incentivize bitcoin accumulation...this is good for all people who hodl bitcoin or live on bitcoin standard

I liked these nostr clients better when we couldn't see all the zap amounts, sats just showed up and things werent about a score. We dont want randos knowing what just got sent to our hot wallets. This type of data could become a serious risk in meatspace at larger scales.

Profile zaps dont, but from what I can tell, most zaps are done through notes. Just feel that it encourages celebrities. Very fiat minded imo

Agree, but hard to think of anything to satisfy both sides! If we had an option to “hide” amount or number of zaps, or both, then it still would not solve the problem. Celebs can easily keep it open. 🐶🐾🤔

Friendly reminder for fellow nostriches (nostr users). Currently, Zaps (NIP-57) is always public so anyone can see it easily like how https://zaplife.lol do. Cool right? Maybe yes, or not. https://i.imgur.com/jN7xeVt.jpg #[0] If you don't want to be seen then you need to do regular lightning tip instead. You can visit user profile and copy their LN address to your LN wallet and send sats from there. Even the receiver won't know who are the sender. Why zaps? Well, it gives us the benefit of positive encouragement. Probably, People will tend to do more positive or interesting things because of zaps have economic value instead of cheap likes. #[1] Zaps also can be useful for crowdfunding activity such as how our nostr devs got many support from fellow nostriches. It gives us the transparency how zaps can be used positively. #[2] Why not zaps? In some cases, people need their privacy for their money activity. You want to give a donation to certain people (Julian Assange, Repressed Minority, Sex Worker, etc.) or community (e.g. Canada Freedom Truck Convoy) but your country or other people won't like it or judge your actions if they know we do that.
