nah it's nothing to do with you, i'm ok with you now haha but it just reminded me that the concept of mute is a dilution of what the user actually wants, and what the user doesn't want is spam, spam is unwanted messages spam. is unwanted. messages. i don't think that's controversial would it be an antispam function on your email if it just greys out the spam emails? no, you want them gone same should apply to social media there is no case in which i want hiders and assclowns wasting my bandwidth this is why i have now switched to just using my relay, which is now quite full of content from my follows and many others, if i see shit i don't want to see, i add that npub to my mute list and a) the relay refuses to accept events signed by them and b) it won't send me events signed by them on the relay from the past, going forward it's a really nice feature, that lets me get around some of the nonsense about "muting" and thanks to the wider adoption of auth and outbox model i literally can just read my relay feed now and it's actually my whole feed as i want it to be
